Day 8

The downward spiral.

hi-res

I had the good sense to take today's pictures very early this morning. I avoided all wasps, and was able to witness a beautiful morning dew coating the chicken.

The maggot grubs are present, but not moving. I snapped the photos quietly, to avoid waking them up.

I could only smell the poultry when I crouched next to it for a picture. Proof that rotting meat tends to smell much worse when the sun is blazing.

hi-res

Much like the strange night cricket from the first project, I didn't notice this until I viewed the picture later.

They are small, but if you look near the bottom of the chicken, there are two black beetles roaming around.

Rad.

I can't refer to the chicken hole as an orifice any longer, because I can't see where the hole really is. The black goop has filled and closed it nicely, much like wood putty.

Administrative notice:
Trevor the shameless will not be returning. Apparently, he was under the impression that there would be some form of payment for his rooting through the garbage on day 3. When I informed him that participation was its own reward, he promptly presented me with the finger. It's just as well - the stinkymate was starting to get jealous.
