Day 14

The mystery continues.

hi-res

2 days of missed observation hasn't hurt the project much. The dish drainer is still in location, but the chicken beneath it has shifted again. At first glance, the chicken appears to be attempting an escape.

I had to move the carcass slightly in order to lift the dish drainer. It felt incredibly light and crispy, like an optimally baked croissante.

I am starting to personify elements of the chicken. Earlier, it was plump and capable of supporting other life. It was a beautiful monument to nature's cycle, and a nurturing habitat and shelter to various forms of insects. Now, this pathetic husk of once poultry currently seems to be devoid of any maggot, beetle, or wasp life.

It's depressing.
I missed my maggots growing up.

hi-res

When I first saw this picture, I thought the new hole was created by something exploding outwards, from deep within the chicken. I was relieved to discover the truth.

An entire leg has been ripped out of its socket and carried to an unknown destination.

The tent stakes were a wise idea - otherwise the entire chicken would probably have been taken. I suppose I don't mind if the legs are ripped away - as long as the body stays put. Perhaps a little more security is needed, after all.

The stinkyteam wants so very badly to give back to the community. All I can think of recently are all the people that didn't get to benefit from the education of the mall meat. To make up for this, the stinkymate and I will be depositing plates of meat at random locations over the next few days - starting tomorrow.
